Jasper and I have had a wonderful time catching up with all of our favourite humans! We heard so many stories of incredible generosity, love and laughter over the course of 2024. We can’t wait to see what comes in 2025!

Thank you to all of our Hope Cottage community for helping to keep our doors open and so many bellies full of delicious warm meals.

We couldn’t resist one last adventure - turkey jousting! We left a photo behind for the staff to remember us by, we hope they had a good laugh!

Gosh, we love these amazing people! (We’re missing Jack! Merry Christmas Jack!).

We hope everyone is all ready for a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday! Sending love to all, especially those out there who may be spending this holiday alone, or sad - we are thinking of you, and you are very important to us (and Rudolph!). ❤️

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… Jasper and Hope?! That’s right, we’re making the most of this solo Sunday at Hope Cottage! Zip lining through the bathrooms - toilet rolls and Christmas lights make the best Elf-Cleaning-Express!

Only three days until Santa comes to visit, and we thought we’d help the staff out by cleaning up around the place! They work so hard to keep everything shiny and fresh, it’s the least we could do!

My oh my, where has the time gone!? Can you believe that Hope Cottage has been open since 1970?! Jasper and I remember it like it was yesterday… sort of, hehe.

We found this box filled with photos of Hope Cottage throughout the years. We have met some incredible people, and it’s so nice to reminisce. (Especially when it’s so snowy today!).

🚨 ATTENTION. ATTENTION. ATTENTION. 🚨
Not to alarm you all, but we are SINGLE DIGIT days away from Christmas.

Maybe Hope and I spent last weekend getting up to no good. Perhaps there was some spilled paint. Some wrapped slop buckets, bowls, mugs, cream containers and a mystery item that we can’t remember. Some burnt marshmallows stuck to the stove top. But, so what?!

On the brightest of bright sides, we did also stumble into the super secret (from us, only, it seems) candy stash! Hope Cottage accepts donations of Halloween candy every year, and passes it out to the clients!

Now that it’s Christmas time, it got us thinking. Maybe the Hope Cottage clients would like some Christmas candies too! We promise to stay out of it. Besides, Lindsay says if WE ate all of the candy ourselves, we’d have to go see a special tooth doctor!

If you’d like to donate some Christmas treats, donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm at 2435 Brunswick Street, Halifax.

Dearest Hope Cottage,

We have, once again, been left to run amuck in your cozy kitchen. The weekend leaves many long hours for elf shenanigans. In protest of our solitude, we have gift wrapped six of your most prized kitchen possessions. With lots of tape. Lots and lots of it.

Can you guess what the items are? The Hope Cottage volunteers might know. Maybe they’ll help you out!

This is goodbye (for now). We’re off to make s’mores over the cooktop, slide down the railings, and play catch with the Christmas ornaments.

December 13, 2024: day 13!

We took a minute for a postcard photoshoot! We’ll be sending this shot right back to Santa and the other elves in the North Pole!

Don’t worry, we’ll also be writing a message about this amazing Hope Cottage community, and those incredibly hardworking, kind and welcoming Hope Cottage staff. We’ll probably take a second to talk about the volunteers, the groups that make and donate meals, those who fundraise, and The Friends of Hope Cottage. Oh! And the students who help decorate with beautiful drawings, the folks who drop off donations, the people who smile and wave on their walk by, and EVERYONE else who helps to keep our doors open and Clients happy ❤️.

Let’s take a moment to thank the people in our lives who are always looking out for others. They are so important! (And definitely on the Nice List. We would know, we checked!)

Jasper here! Hope and I decided to spend the morning building some gingerbread houses, and, well…… she’s got the spirit, I suppose!

Which gingerbread house is your favourite? 🌟

Did you know: Christmas candy (sort of like what I used on MY house) is always an awesome donation idea this time of year? We give out candy in our Client Christmas gift bags, and during meals sometimes as a little snack. It’s a fun (and tasty) way to brighten someone’s day!
